Part-time Educator (Thames Valley)
Salary: £19,060 – £19,623 (pro-rata)

A rare opportunity to join our team of Educators in the delivery of specialised health, well-being and drug education programmes to children aged 3 – 13 years throughout Thames Valley, North Hampshire and, on occasions, the wider Wessex area. This is a part-time, term time only, post (0.6 – 0.8) that will require a flexible and adaptable approach as the days worked each week may vary.
To accommodate the travelling requirements of the role you will ideally be resident in the Reading area. You will preferably have recent experience of working with young children as well as knowledge of and an interest in health, well-being and drug issues.
Life Education Wessex & Thames Valley is a charity working with schools and the community to help children make informed healthy choices and stay safe. Educators use positive and dynamic teaching strategies and specially designed visual aids and models to make children aware of the wonders of the body and how to look after it. From Key stage 2, the children are educated about the effects and risks associated with drugs, including alcohol and tobacco. Through role play and discussion they are equipped with the skills to overcome bullying and peer pressure. The series of fun, age-appropriate and memorable programmes are primarily delivered in purpose built mobile classrooms.
We currently reach around 70,000 children in schools throughout Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Dorset, Devon, Somerset and Hampshire every year.
To become a qualified Educator, the successful candidate will be required to undergo and pass an intensive ten to twelve-week training course on all aspects of the role including programme delivery, presentation skills and management of the mobile classroom and equipment.
