THANK YOU! – The Big Quiz 2016

Thank you to everyone who made the Life Education Wessex 2016 Big Quiz possible;  To the brave team members battling with the brain frazzling questions set by the wonderful Nigel Hedges, the Barclays volunteers who were rushing around collecting Quiz papers, selling raffle tickets, cakes and biscuits to 200 guests, those who donated the amazing number of raffle and silent auction prizes, Rachel Hall in charge of the ‘Guess the Name of Harold’s cousin’, the delicious biscuits donated by Rich’s and not forgetting Lorraine, who started the Big Quiz 9 years ago, and is still improving it year on year.

Congratulations to the Winning Team “South Deep” from Deep South Media, pictured below, our 2016 Big Quiz Champions.  They were followed very closely by, “The Originals” from The Rotary Club of Bournemouth who came second, with ‘Disruptors’ from AB Precision (Poole) Ltd coming in third place.  We have never had such high scores with such close winners – well done!

We are delighted to advise that we raised the amazing sum of £8,885.00.  This will help us continue our work providing vital health promotion and drug prevention education to 55,000 children across Dorset, Devon, Somerset and Hampshire, keeping them safe, healthy and happy.

The Big Quiz trophy is up for grabs again for the 9th year running along with lots of great prizes for the winning teams.  I do hope you will be able to join us at AFC Bournemouth on Thursday 10th March from 6pm, with a hot meal served from 6.30pm, and the quiz starting at 7.30pm. The evening will also include a Silent Auction and Raffle,  with the Quiz questions yet again prepared by our highly entertaining Quiz Master, Nigel Hedges, ensuring that the evening is sure to be a fabulous occasion!

The Big Quiz is growing in popularity year on year with 200+ Corporate and Community supporters joining us last year to help us to raise just over £9,400 on the night; helping to provide Health and Drug Prevention Education to  children each year.

Last year, the winning team was ‘The Quizzy Rascals, from Tesco’s; could your team take the trophy this year?

It promises to be a fun and entertaining evening and we have managed to secure some excellent prizes for the top teams, not forgetting the losers.

There is also an opportunity to sponsor each of the Quiz rounds at £50 per round.  In return we will put your company logo on the Quiz round papers and our Quiz Master will acknowledge your support on the night.  Please contact Julie (details below) if you’d like to know more about this opportunity.

In order to continue to provide Health and Drug Prevention Education to children across the region we need to raise £170,000 this year.  We rely very much on the support of the community to help us, along with our own fundraising events like the Big Quiz.  Your support will help us to continue our vital service to young children across the region.
